Importance of Making Sustainability Sustainable

by Ahmet Öksüz & Necat Altın

The conversation will explore the efforts of the Turkish textile sector, along with İTHİB’s works in this area. A key focus will be on ensuring the sustainability of sustainability itself—how these initiatives can be maintained for the long term. Additionally, the conversation will raise a critical question: while many rules are being created and implemented for sustainability, are we truly behaving in a sustainable manner? It will also emphasize that sustainability is not a one-sided issue expected solely from producers; it requires every sector and every level of the industry to take responsibility and play their part.

Ahmet Öksüz is a mechanical engineer and a Board Member at Kipaş Holding, a prominent conglomerate with diverse investments in textiles, cement, paper, energy, education, and logistics. He also serves as the Chairman of İTHİB, where he plays a crucial role in advancing the Turkish textile sector.

Necat Altın, a textile engineer, currently serves as the Chairman of Zorlu Holding’s Textile Group. Having joined Zorlu in 1992, he has since held several key leadership positions within the company. He is also a Board Member of İTHİB, where he contributes to the growth and development of the Turkish textile industry.
