Recycling Atelier and CirTex – new tools on the way to textile circularity

The path to a circular textile industry is challenging, but innovative solutions are paving the way. This session explores groundbreaking initiatives led by Stefan Schlichter, a pioneer in recycling technologies and the founder of the Recycling Atelier Augsburg.

During this session, Stefan will introduce the Recycling Atelier, the world’s first makers factory for mechanical recycling of textiles. He will discuss how this initiative, built in partnerships with nearly 20 companies, is developing high-quality, industrially applicable, and recyclable new products from used textiles. Additionally, Stefan will present the CirTex project, an initiative funded by the German Government Agency for Innovation and Transfer (DATI). This project unites over 70 stakeholders across the textile value chain, including consumers and politicians, to create a holistic and sustainable textile circular economy.
